“I am not what happened to me, I am who I choose to become “
Carl Jung
Even though it seems that ego makes people act as though they are perfection itself…
“No one’s life follows a linear path. No one’s life is devoid of mistakes, pain, and regret.” #MaríaShriver
My goal for my existence is to learn from mistakes and to grow and thrive out of pain, without holding on to regrets about anything that I have done or that may have happened to me. I know that these are among the hardest tasks I’ve given myself.
For everyone struggling through something, it is important to start from where you are. Do not gauge your own progress against an impossible scale belonging to someone else. Be kind to yourself. This blog is a note to myself. After the sadness and overwhelming feelings of hopelessness and loss, beginning my fitness journey helped set me on this course. The happenings of the past 3 years were more than I ever imagined for myself. It shook the very foundation of my life. However through it, I am learning to be present and mindful. To be true to myself. I know that I want to grow and continue to learn, something that has always has been a part of my DNA. But now I can put aside my ego to achieve this mindfully.
“Your power is intangible to everyone but you. Only you can touch it. Do you know what that means? You can take it back any time you want.” #ErinVanVruen
This was one of my first realizations during this process.
I have been working on spending less energy judging myself … and others (The hardest part always). Truth is, even though I know what I wouldn’t do in certain situations I also realize that life isn’t always easy and without adequate support, understanding or knowledge we can make different decisions… I am focusing my energy on remaining supportive to myself and those around me. To live a life of love and appreciation has always been a goal of mine, but it has now become much more amplified.
I know that …I am enough. I am worthy. I am blessed. I am not my mistakes.
