“When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.””
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭3:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

How many years have I read over this verse and never understood it?

It’s amazing to me how much more clarity we can continue to get from being in a consistent and deeper relationship with God. I pray that we can all become more consistent and intentional about deepening our walk with our Holy and Heavenly Father.

And when I say deepen, it doesn’t even have to be anything too drastic or dramatic. For me just making the effort each day to spend time in the word, prayer & worship has made a huge difference in my walk with God.

When I first came across this verse in the bible more recently, I literally burst out laughing. I’ve reread it a few times since then because I knew I was going to “blog” about it.

A few ideas I had about the header included “Are we paying attention?” “Are we missing moments with our Holy Father?” “What happens to missed moments?”

Looking through history, not just of biblical characters, we can see that history could have turned out differently, with much variations, if these different individuals had not taken a chance at a given moment to explore that curious sight, that interesting or unique idea, that unpopular opinion…They chose not to let fear determine whether or not they would move.

As we approach Christmas, we can all pull from the story of the 3 wise men. We know of how they followed that one star to find Jesus.

“After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Just imagine that. There are billions of stars, but they were curious enough, attentive enough to find that one star. And then they were willing to follow it. ⭐️

Are we truly attentive? Or easily distracted by unimportant things like social media, people’s opinions of us, people’s perception of us, our opinions of ourselves, or offense?

Are we curious enough? Willing to take a chance and follow that “path” which stands out above the rest?

Or are we simply complacent with our lot in life? Just in autopilot doing life the same way over and over again. Missing opportunities to encounter God out of fear, complacency, insecurity…

We all should always remember that “Feeling fear should not be a deterrent to a fruitful life” Pastor Miriam V Fleming (Church Alive NJ)

More recently I made the decision not to accept a life where I don’t have a relationship with God. I cannot explain it, but I have since encountered God in such simple, but awe inspiring ways.

And I know that as long as I live I never want to return to the way life used to be – I cannot imagine my life without HIM.  I pray for eyes that can see His signs, ears that can hear His instructions, a heart of obedience that moves when led, lips that sing and speak of His Glory and a body that moves to honor Him in dancing, life and action.

Can we pray to be more attentive to His presence? I know God seeks to communicate with us daily.

What could we do differently today to ensure that we don’t miss our burning bush moment? Our star?

He is an awesome Father, but He will never strong arm us into anything. We wants us to seek Him with open hearts. We all have the choice.

Willingness

Unafraid to move even in the midst of a fear – we live & move by faith in Christ

Curiosity/interest (even if faint)

The ball is always in our court, but what are we going to do with it?

“Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’”

Jeremiah 33:3
