To Affirm means to state as fact; assert strongly and publicly; to encourage (Oxford language)
According to Merrimack-Webster dictionary, affirm means to validate, confirm; to show or express a strong belief in or dedication to (something, such as an important idea).
For over a year I have been learning of the power of affirmations. I have gotten to exercise this understanding every month and season of my life since then and have watched the impact they have had on me and all that is in my world. I literally watched the dry patches of my life come back to life. I have watched dry bones resurrect. I saw my life’s story be rewritten. And with each experience I have continued to watch my faith grow (Thank You Holy Father).
So I thought I’d share my affirmations with you all in blog universe. So I write a few of these affirms frequently. Sometimes they are redundant and other times they are brand new. But each one speaks to my heart, reflecting the things I need to understand or work through, things I am praising God for doing in me, things I need to trust God for, things I need to release control over, things I need to align my heart and mind onto. This one is especially dear because it was written on the eve of my 34th birthday 🎉
Our affirmations/declarations aren’t just a good or important idea or good positive words to say, but are formed from God’s truth! They are life giving!
“For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.”

❤️ I am transformed inwardly by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has transformed how I think, He has empowered me to discern God’s good, pleasing and perfect will and leads me to live a beautiful, satisfying, and perfect life in God’s eyes.
❤️ My heart, mind and thoughts are continuously fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind.
❤️ I fasten my thoughts on every glorious work of God and I live to praise Him always 🙌🏾
❤️ My heart is faithful and grateful for all the Lord is and all He has done and is doing and yet to do
❤️ The fruits of the Holy Spirit are within me. It is divine love that produces joy in overflow, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness that is seen in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, a gentle heart and a strong spirit
In Jesus’ Mighty Name, I declare and decree, Amen
Many times I create prayer images such as this that I will post on my social media for a public declaration, they are my prayer points. Youversion app has a great new feature that will allow you create prayer points so I am able to pray right in it especially when I cannot journal at that moment. (Thank You Lord for resources and tools at our disposal to do this life well)

If we let Him, the Holy Spirit will work us through so many amazing things. I said amazing because He leads us to our true freedom, but I didn’t say it’ll be easy, painless or always fun. A few months ago or so, I started working through my responses/attitude to my daughter (& husband) when I get frustrated in the moment. I asked God to help me display His gentleness and love the right way.
A declaration I wrote about this:
I am putting forceful words, yelling and anger and frustrations behind me. Lord I want to walk in Your freedom in this area. Teach me Holy Spirit to respond from love and firm and honest without causing abrasion. Holy Spirit teach me how to flow in complete gentleness. Bridle my tongue & heart Lord. May my thoughts, heart, words align with Your love & heart. In Jesus’ Name I pray, decree & declare, Amen ❤️
Here are a few others that I will often rewrite:
- I am chosen by God
- I am always loved
- Nothing I do can separate me from His love
- I am always wanted by God
- I am the one He wants to be with
- I am never abandoned
- in Jesus Name, Amen❤️
The Word of our God is truth. Our God created this earth by speaking (Genesis 1:3-24). He created us in His own image (Genesis 1:28). What that means to me is that we have been equipped with the same power to create. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that the power of life and death are on our tongue. And then you add on the amazing inexplicable fact that Jesus died and resurrected and left us His Spirit!!! 🤯🙌🏾 The enemy knows we are unstoppable if we tap into this understanding and align ourselves with the Father’s Will & Heart. Don’t let him disarm you or cause you to lose your potency.
I don’t know who needed to read this today, but I pray even now that you are reminded of the power of God in you. I pray that you are strengthened in your spirit even now. I pray for clarity and that your mind is opened to the declarations/affirmations that you need to speak forth in this season of your life. I pray that the awesome glory of our Holy King continually gets revealed in your life to the Glory of His Name. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen
“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.”
